Interior Design Masters – Week 2

Yay it’s week 2 of one of our favourite shows on BBC, Interior Design Masters!

If you haven’t seen the show yet, this program features a set of aspiring interior designers with different backgrounds, who each week have to design a room or venue based on a particular theme. Hosted by Alan Carr and judged by Michelle Ogundehin, an expert in all things interior design.

If you’re an interior fanatic this is the show for you, you’re probably thinking what have Olive & Berry got to do with this? Well, we’re here to show you how you can integrate those all-important furry friends into your interior design whilst following the BBC Interior Design Masters weekly themes.

So let’s begin, this episode features a beautiful, traditional country hotel called Wooton House in the Surrey Hills. The designers task this week was to transform a bedroom each, showcasing their signature style whilst also making sure the classic country hotel theme shone through.

This week we’re going to split this theme in two blogs as next week’s theme is schools and let’s be honest it’s quite difficult to make that one relevant for our furry friends, so we’re going to replace that theme with the second part of our hotel blog…

Blog 1 (this blog) – The best British hotels you can attend with your four-legged friend that also have inspiring interior! As well as some helpful websites and Facebook groups you can go to to find those beautiful dog friendly hotels.

Blog 2 – Aimed at dog friendly hotels, we’re going to be covering the interior & practical elements of running a dog friendly hotel so your guests can have a luxury, comfortable stay with their four-legged friend.

So let’s jump straight in to our top 5 dog friendly AND fabulous interior hotels…

1. The Homewood Hotel, Kitchen & Spa

This place is filled with imagination and little pops of delight throughout, they have a giant teddy bear for instance!

The décor is fun, vibrant and pattern based, each room is designed with its own personality but still gives off that luxury feel.

Most of their rooms are dog friendly, with 20 acres of grounds and a welcome doggy pack, this hotel looks like one where you won’t be second to other guests as you have access to ALL areas! You can hire beds and bowls for an extra £25. They also have a dog menu so your dog can dine with you! (https://www.homewoodbath.co.uk/media/t1hk5icd/homewood-dog-menu-4.pdf)

The crem de la crem, what a place to stay! If you have the budget then this is the one, set in the beautiful enchanting new forest, this 5-star, Chateaux Hotel and Spa is a wonderful place to escape and relax with your four-legged friend.

Their interior is very fresh and calming, using lots of whites and creams with tones of faded blue and wood finishes. The main focus and design feature of this hotel, especially in the epic treehouses is cleverly designed to point to that wonderful view!

It’s £35 per dog per day, your dog has to be over 1 year old, there is also unfortunately some areas the dogs are not allowed to go in such as the main hotel and public areas.

3. Beaverbrook in the Surrey Hills

This hotel is a feast for the eyes and senses… as they say themselves, ‘expect good old-fashioned hospitality, impeccable design, an eclectic collection of artwork, antiques and memorabilia from a range of rooms and suites that offer evocative sophistication, stylish tranquillity or simple country charm’.

Dogs are £35 per night, this includes bowls and towels, dogs are unfortunately not permitted in the spa or house.

4. The Talbot Malton

Set in Malton, the Foodie capital in the North, this hotel is cute and cosy, colourful and welcoming.

Giving off traditional pub vibes with pops of modern throughout featuring delicious food shots and wood tones in their online imagery.

Malton boasts being the UK’s most friendly dog town, the town won an award in 2018, it’s only £10 to stay at this 17thcentury inn.

It’s a little random but we like this idea they have on their site, each month they choose a dog that needs to be rehomed and share their details on their website.
